DOI: 10.1177/136345930100500207 Breast Cancer: Feminism, Representations and Resistance a Commentary on Dorothy Brooms Reading Breast CancerLoughborough University, UKS.Wilkinson{at}lboro.ac.uk In this commentary, I identify two sets of coercive discourses and practices which typically oppress women with breast cancer: the imperative of concealment and the notion of personal blame and responsibility for their illness. I examine how a feminist analysis can support and encourage resistance to such coercive discourses and practices, and I argue for a thoroughgoing feminist approach to breast cancer more generally.
